Yesterday I visited the Holland Ponds Nature Preserve about 20 minutes away from my home and took a few shots in the late evening light of the Great Blue Herons nesting in the rookery located there. The Michigan DNR has restricted access to the rookery to reduce the stress on the nesting bird so I was unable to get as close as I would have liked to. All shots posted were taken with the Nikon D200 and Tokina Pro ATX 300mm with my Kenko 2X teleconverter. If the weather holds off this afternoon I plan to return and see if I can do any better with the Sigma 300-800mm the extra reach is really needed.</p>
