The reigning Spanish champions picked up their first league win of the season when they ground to a 2-1 victory over Eibar.
Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first half, the Basque club fought hard to get back into the game and, after pulling a goal back, came close to pulling level.
And Simeone has admitted his side need to improve on their opening two performances, but stressed the new signings are still getting used to their new surroundings.
"We have to improve and work hard. That is what we enjoy the most. Winning is a positive, and from there we hope that it will bear fruit."
